The service
Scissor Audio is a free set of audio tools at audio.scissor.studio, made by Scissor. The tools run in your web browser: your files are opened, edited and saved on your own device, and are never uploaded to us. You do not need an account.
Your files and your rights
Everything you open, record or create with Scissor Audio stays yours. We claim no rights to it and never receive it. You are responsible for having the rights to the audio and video you work with, and for the consent of people whose voices you record or transcribe.
Acceptable use
Use Scissor Audio for lawful purposes. Do not use it to infringe copyright, to deceive people with altered recordings of them, or to harm others. Do not try to disrupt the site, overload it, or get around its security.
AI results
Audio to text and the editor's AI tools use Whisper, an open model by OpenAI, which runs on your device. Like any speech recognition, it makes mistakes, especially with names, accents and noisy recordings. Check transcripts and subtitles before you rely on them, publish them or use them for anything important.
Free, as it is
Scissor Audio is free and provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. We work to keep it reliable and available, but we cannot promise that it is free of errors or always online. Keep your own copies of files that matter: the tools never hold a copy for you.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Scissor is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of Scissor Audio, including lost data, lost work or lost profits. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that cannot be limited by law.
Open-source parts
Scissor Audio includes open-source software and models, among them Whisper (MIT license), transformers.js and ONNX Runtime (Apache 2.0 and MIT licenses). Their licenses apply to those parts.
Privacy
How we handle the little information we do receive, such as anonymous page counts and messages you send us, is described in the privacy policy.
Changes
We may update these terms as the tools change. If you keep using Scissor Audio after a change, the new terms apply.
