How to record your voice
- Select Start recording and allow the microphone when your browser asks.
- Pause if you need to, and select Stop when you are finished.
- Listen back, choose a format and select Save.
Private by design
The browser records directly on your device and nothing is streamed anywhere. Until you save the file, the recording exists only in this tab, so remember to save before you close it.
Better recordings
Get close to the microphone, and record in a soft room rather than a bare one. Keep the level meter moving without staying at the far end, which usually means the sound is distorting.
Questions about Voice recorder
Is my recording uploaded?
No. It is recorded and saved on your device, and never sent to a server.
The microphone does not work. What can I do?
Check that your browser has permission to use the microphone, usually with the icon in the address bar, and that the right microphone is selected in your system settings.
How long can I record?
We set no limit. Long recordings use memory on your device, so very long sessions may be too much for a phone.
Can I turn the recording into text?
Yes. Save it, then open it in Audio to text, which runs on your device as well.
